Manchester City first-team player ruled out for four months

Manchester City Football Club will be without its first team player, Kevin De Bruyne, for the next three to four months.

The Belgian International suffered an injury in the league's opening game against Burnley on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was forced off injured as he suffered a hamstring problem—the same injury he suffered during last season's Champions League final.

There are reports that Kevin De Bruyne may have to undergo surgery on the hamstring injury sustained at Turf Moor, which will rule him out for the rest of 2023. A final decision has not yet been made, but surgery is seen as the best solution.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that De Bruyne will undergo surgery to treat his hamstring. The Spaniard was speaking at a press conference ahead of the Super League game against Sevilla on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

"We have to decide [on] his surgery. We will decide in the next few days. Surgery is surgery, three or four months out. The injury to De Bruyne is a blow, a big loss. He has specific qualities. For a long time is tough for us. We have to look forward. We have alternatives. Kevin is irreplaceable, but we have talented players. They will take it."
