LMC slams Enyimba with points deduction and hefty cash fine

The League Management Company ( LMC) in Nigeria has placed a fine on Enyimba Football Club and Rangers for breaching its framework and rules when both sides met on Match Day 35 for the Oriental Derby.

The decision was taken after both players and supporters of both sides were involved in a brawl after the center referee awarded a late-minute penalty to the home team, Rangers. This saw the game being called off which was played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Details of League Management Company' Fine

The League governing body ( LMC) awarded three points and three goals to Rangers International and fined Enyimba FC the sum of Ten million naira for violating the frameworks. However, Rangers International will pay a fine of N5m for various offenses, including the non-provision of adequate security, encroachment on the pitch by fans and other unauthorized persons as well and sales of tickets to spectators more than the stadium capacity leading to encroachment of the pitch.

This decision means Rangers International will remain top of the league table with 64 points from 35 matches while Enyimba FC and Remo Stars are in second and third positions with 59 points respectively.
