Lionel Messi has added another major trophy to his remarkable collection after leading Inter Miami to the 2026 Michelob ULTRA Campeones Cup with a 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul.
The Argentine superstar once again proved decisive on a historic night at Nu Stadium, scoring the opening goal before playing a role in Inter Miami's second. The victory handed the club its latest piece of silverware and extended Messi's extraordinary trophy haul to 48 career titles.
Messi reaches 100 goals for Inter Miami
The night was particularly memorable because Messi reached another major milestone. His 24th-minute header from a Luis Suárez cross was his 100th goal for Inter Miami, making him the first player in the club's history to reach the century mark.
Messi achieved the feat in just 115 appearances for the Herons. His goals have come across four seasons, with 11 in 2023, 23 in 2024, 43 in 2025 and 23 so far in 2026. The victory also marked a winning start for new Inter Miami head coach Cristian “Kily” González, who began his tenure by immediately lifting a trophy.

Inter Miami had never won a trophy before Messi's arrival. The latest triumph is also the club's first piece of silverware at the newly opened Nu Stadium.

The Campeones Cup is the latest addition to a career that already includes major domestic, continental and international honours.
Messi has won 10 LaLiga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles with Barcelona, two Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Copa América with Argentina and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
His latest success with Inter Miami takes his career trophy total to 48.
