Paris Saint Germain midfielder, Lionel Messi could be on his way out of the Ligue 1 at the end of this season.
The Argentine is expected to leave PSG except for the owners of the Parisian club make his contract extension a priority. Messi signed a deal in 2021 just before the World Cup with an option to extend the contract by an additional season. However, the relationship between the parties involved has since gone south over the last few months.
There are reports that Messi is pushing for a better contract and this has not gone well with some of the supporters of PSG. The Argentine has been accused of not showing commitment, despite turning in a much-improved campaign in his second year at the club, with 13 goals and 13 assists in Ligue 1 alone.
The board at PSG are also looking at not signing a new contract so that they will be able to balance their financial books following an agreement with UEFA after being hit with a fine.
However, transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Al-Hilal sent an official bid of over €400 million per year but Messi's priority is to remain in Europe. This could lead to the possibility of the Argentine returning to Barcelona.
