Chelsea's goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga has explained his reasons for deciding to join Real Madrid on loan instead of Bayern Munich.
The goalkeeper was speaking in an interview while on duty with Spain's national team ahead of the qualifying games ahead of the Euro 2024 tournament. According to Kepa Arrizabalaga, it was impossible to refuse a call from Real Madrid when they called.
"No to Bayern? Real Madrid is Real Madrid. When Real Madrid call you, it's easy. I have faced Real 3 times with Chelsea. When I arrived at Bernabéu I always turned left, to the visiting dressing room, but I wanted to turn right, to local dressing room."
The Spaniard joined Real Madrid on a season loan deal from Chelsea following the injury to Thibaut Courtois while he was in training just days before the start of the 2023/24 season. However, there is no option to buy in the deal for the deal which means Kepa will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.
