Former Chelsea's number-one first-choice goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga has reportedly agreed to join another Premier League side, Bournemouth.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on his official X account on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. According to the Italian journalist, Kepa Arrizabalaga will join Bournemouth on a season loan deal which will end in July 2025 with his contract at Stamford Bridge ending in 2026.
Kepa joined Chelsea during the 2018 summer transfer window from Athletic Bilbao for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper at the time, £71.6 million (€80 million). He replaced Thibaut Courtois, who had left Chelsea for Real Madrid, and made his debut for the club on August 11, 2018, in a 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
He left Chelsea last season (2023/24) on loan to Real Madrid following an injury to the Galaticos first choice, Courtois, with an option to make the deal permanent. However, the Champions League winners opted not to activate the clause at the end of the season after Kepa lost his place to Lunin and the return of the Belgian from injury.
However, he will always look at his time at Madrid as a success following their Champions league victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final.
