The three-time Africa Champions defeated Sierra Leone 3-2 in Monrovia on Sunday, June 18th, 2023. The Super Eagles started the game like a house on fire when Napoil's forward player, Victor Osimhen scored two quick goals in the first thirty minutes of the match.
Mustapha Bindu pulled a goal back for the host nation, which saw the first half ended 2-1 in Nigeria. Sierra Leone came into the second half the way they ended the first and the pressure paid off when Augustus Karbo scored the equalising goal in the 84th minute.
Leicester City's striker, Kelechi Iheanacho sent the away supporters on their feet when he scored the winning goal of the game in the final few seconds.
The result means Nigeria finish Group A as Group leaders with one game to play.
