Following a stint that he would wish could be forgotten, Kalvin Philips who is currently on loan to West Ham United has broken his silence on his struggles at Man City as well as his relationship with Pep Guardiola.
Kalvin Philips who completed a move from Leeds United to Man City did not continue his fine form many had seen at Leeds at the Eithad, the midfielder for the first time has spoken on why he had not been in the best of forms in recent times and how he is trying as much as possible to get back to his peak form or level.
He revealed that Pep coming out to say he was overweight was not wrong as he was indeed overweight after the World Cup in Qatar but he believed that a different approach could have been adopted by the City coach to get his point across to the player. He went on to state that his mother had not been happy since his move to City and didn't come to watch his games as much as she used to do in his days at Leeds United.
He stated, “After the World Cup was probably the toughest [moment], when Pep came out and said I was overweight. He was right to do so, but there are different ways to go about it. I did not disagree with him, but obviously I took a big knock on my confidence and how I felt at City. And my family were not happy about it either, especially my mum. She got frustrated when I was at City, she didn’t come to watch as much."
