Former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp is on the verge of becoming the new head coach of the Germany following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann.

There are several reports that Klopp has agreed in principle to take over the role after Germany's disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Negotiations between the German Football Association (DFB) and Klopp have progressed rapidly, with only final contractual details left to be completed.

Nagelsmann stepped down after Germany's shock Round of 32 elimination, prompting the DFB to begin its search for a new manager. Klopp quickly emerged as the federation's preferred candidate thanks to his proven record at both club and international level discussions.

The 59-year-old has not managed a team since leaving Liverpool in 2024 and currently serves as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull. However, reports indicate that his agreement with Red Bull allows him to accept the Germany job if the opportunity arose.

Klopp recently confirmed that talks with the DFB are taking place, admitting that events have "moved pretty quickly." While stressing his respect for Nagelsmann and his current role with Red Bull, he acknowledged that leading his country is an opportunity he is seriously considering.
