Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has signed a contract extension with the club that will keep him at Old Trafford beyond the 2023/24 season.

The extension was confirmed on the official website of Manchester United on Friday, July 12, 2024. According to the club, Jonny Evans signed a one-year contract extension, which will keep him at the club until June 2025.

He returned to Old Trafford last summer, after spending the past eight years away with West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City. He was instrumental in Erik ten Hag’s success last season, playing 30 times across all competitions, including coming on as a substitute against Manchester City to win the Emirates FA Cup, adding to his initial Premier League and League Cup titles.

The 36-year-old expressed his excitement on the club's website after he signed the new contract.

He said,

"I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season. To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege. Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic teammates under an excellent manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead"

Manchester United supporters will hope Evans brings success to them when the new season begins.
