Newcastle's latest signing, Joe Willock, has spoken about the racial abuse he receives from people every day he turns on his phone. The 21-year-old completed a permanent deal with the Magpies from Arsenal last week on a six-year deal.

The England midfielder who told BBC radio in an interview on Tuesday, August 18th, 2021, says he gets messages from people talking about his color and every other sort of insult.
He also urged the various social media organizations to put in efforts in order to curb the racial abuse that people receive on the various social media platforms.
Every day I get messages. Messages saying about my colour or different things that are disgusting, really. There is not so much you can do, you have to try to ignore it. I don't think Instagram, Facebook and Twitter have put up enough of a fight for us to do anything else.

It comes up on your phone and they have a way of direct messaging you on your phone these disgusting things and it sort of hurts. It hurts a lot even speaking about it.
He also spoke about the option and the effects of leaving social media,
If you come off social media, you lose connection with all the wonderful fans that are supporting me every day, want to see my everyday life and see what i do and have that connection with me over the platform they wouldn't have in real life.
Willock scored eight goals in fourteen games for Newcastle last season.
