Italian Champions Inter Milan have reportedly rejected an £85 million offer from English side Chelsea for prolific striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea tabled an £85 million ($118m) offer including their left-back Marcos Alonso in the bid to secure Lukaku. However, Inter Milan, who had earlier warned that they would only consider bids over £100m ($139m) for their impressive goal poacher, rejected the bid.

Lukaku, a former Chelsea player, had an excellent season for the Serie A side last season, scoring a total of 28 goals. He was also included in UEFA's official team for Euro 2020, further motivating Chelsea's desire to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

Although Lukaku is quiet settled at Inter, the Italian team needs to reduce their wage bill this summer. Hence, the need to offload some of the players.
