Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams has retired from international football with Ghana at 32, ending a four-year spell with the Black Stars.
Williams announced his decision on X on Thursday, writing that the time had come to bring his journey with the national team to an end. "Ghana will always be a part of me," he wrote, thanking supporters and pledging to continue following the Black Stars as a fan wherever he is.
He made 28 appearances for Ghana and scored two goals since switching his international allegiance from Spain in 2022. Born in Bilbao to Ghanaian parents, Williams had made one senior appearance for Spain in 2016 before deciding to represent the country of his parents' birth.
His spell with the Black Stars included appearances at two FIFA World Cups, in Qatar in 2022 and this year's tournament co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, as well as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire. Ghana were eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.

Williams remains captain of Athletic Bilbao. His younger brother, Nico Williams, represents Spain at senior international level.
