Arsenal FC has their eyes set on building a stronger squad as reports indicate the Gunners are considering a replacement for goalkeeper Ramsdale.

Arsenal seems to be far from done in the summer 2023 transfer window, as it has been reported that the Gunners are targeting a new goalkeeper to replace Aaron Ramsdale at the club.

According to the Mirror UK, Arsenal FC has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Brentford's number one goalkeeper, David Raya, in a bid to challenge their current No.1, Aaron Ramsdale. However, the potential move is facing obstacles due to Brentford's asking price of £40 million. Raya, who is eager to join Arsenal, is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

Raya's stats for the 2022/2023 club football season were very impressive, as he was identified as the goalkeeper who made the highest number of saves in the premier league.

The pursuit of Raya has surprised many, given how solid Aaron Ramsdale had been in goal for Arsenal last season under Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, since his unexpected transfer from Sheffield United for £30 million. Questions on his form were, however, raised during the team's pre-season tour in the United States. Arteta's frustrations with Ramsdale became obvious are the England international's mistake proved to be costly in fixtures during this period.

Despite the speculation surrounding Raya's potential arrival, Arsenal's interest in him could signify Arteta's desire to either push Ramsdale to improve or bring in a new goalkeeper. Reports from Italy suggest that Raya has reached an agreement in principle over personal terms.

Meanwhile, Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, has confirmed that they are open to selling Raya, especially as his contract expires in 10 months, and he has rejected several contract offers from the club. The Bees have already signed Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken from Freiburg, making Raya's potential departure more likely.
