Former Man City manager reportedly applies for Super Eagles head coach job

The job of the Super Eagles head coach has been vacant since the end of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations when Jose Peseiro's contract ended after the competition.

The body governing football in Nigeria, NFF, placed an advertisement for the vacant position on the country's national team. According to reports, there are almost 40 names on the list of managers that have applied for the job.

There are some popular names on the list and some unpopular names on the list. However, there are reports that former Manchester City assistant manager, Domenec Torrent is one of the people that applied for the job of Super Eagles head coach.

ScoreNigeria confirmed the news of Torrent on its official website. He has worked closely with Guardiola at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the pair won major titles, which include the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga.

Torrent was also Pep’s assistant at Manchester City between 2016 and 2018, during which time they won the Premier League and the League. He had also headed Galatasaray, Flamengo, and New York City, Torrent has been reportedly inked to assist Hansi Flick as the new Barcelona coach.
