The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Finidi George, has reacted to his team's 2-1 defeat against Benin Republic in the 2025 World Cup qualifying series.

The three-time Africa Champions have had a disappointing run at the ongoing qualifying series, having secured just three points in their first four games. Finidi George expressed his disappointment during his post-match press conference after the Super Eagles game against Benin Republic, which was played on Monday, June 10, 2024.

He said,

"There is no other formula for that. We have to see how the players will start the new season and see how we can get the best out of them. Everybody must be committed because with that commitment, we will win games. If we can win games, the battle will still be there, we can't throw in the towel because we have just three points, we have to find a way to get these players back in a way for them to perform."

Nigeria are currently in fifth place with one point ahead of Zimbabwe in the last position, the Super Eagles play Rwanda in their next group game in 2025.
