The body governing football in the world, FIFA, has invited football governing bodies in countries to a summit. The meeting is been organised to discuss the proposal of hosting the World Cup every two years.

FIFA announced the submit on its website on Monday, September 20th, 2021. This online summit, which will hold on Thursday, September 30th, 2021, is a continuation of the workshop that was held among federations of different countries earlier in the month.
The goal of the summit is to discuss the overhaul of the international calendar by hosting the World Cup every two years, which is been proposed by former Arsenal's manager, Arsene Wenger.
There is a board consensus with the game that the international match calendar should be reformed and improved. Following invitations to stakeholders, including all consideration, at the beginning of September, discussions are being organised in coming weeks.

On 15 September 2021, FIFA also invited its member associations to a first online summit on 30 September 2021. This is one of several opportunities to establish a constructive and open debate, at a global and regional level, over the coming months and FIFA is looking forward to it.

UEFA has made their stand known about the proposal by FIFA. The European association has said if the body insists on moving on with the plan then its members might have to stay out of the competition.
