Pictures of the players stranded sleeping on chairs at the airport were made available on social media by former Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh. He posted the pictures on his official Instagram account in the early hours of Wednesday, August 24th, 2022.

The Nigerian team lost their quarter-final game in the early hours of Sunday, August 21st, 2022. According to reports from the team officials, their tickets were booked for Tuesday evening on Avianca.

NFF’s Leader of Delegation Ruth David tried in vain to ask the airline for accommodation, but without transit visas, the pleas accomplished nothing and the team were forced to spend 24 hours at the airport awaiting their connecting flight to Abuja.
