Chelsea Football Club have completed the signing of Wesley Fofana from Premier League side, Leicester City.
CHELSEA'S QUEST TO SIGN PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG SUFFERS A HUGE BLOW
The transfer news was confirmed on the official website of the Blues on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022. According to reports from Stamford Bridge, Fofana signed a seven-year deal for a transfer fee of £70 million which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.
Fofana expressed his delight concerning his move to Chelsea and also said he hopes to win trophies with the London club.
The two last days have been really big days for me and I’m very happy. I trained this morning with the team and it’s a dream for me. I’m very excited to start playing games for the fans and the club. I’m here to win trophies, the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, everything. I came here to win and the club is built to win trophies so I’m here to continue that.
The 21-year-old has signified his interest to join the two-time UEFA Champions League winner for the past few weeks but the transfer fee by Leicester City delayed the deal. Chelsea had their first three bids rejected by the foxes before both clubs reached an agreement of £75 million ( including add-ons).
The signing of Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella means Chelsea have replaced the void left by Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Emerson Palmieri. The trio left the Stamford Bridge club for Real Madrid, Barcelona and West Ham United respectively.
