It was a good day for Nigeria on the final day of the World Athletics Championship as Ese Brume also won a silver medal in the long jump event.

Brume came into the final of the event as a bronze medalist at the just last Olympic Games which was hosted in Tokyo, Japan. She leapt 7.02 meters to win the silver medal in Oregon, the USA on Monday, July 25th, 2022.
This Silver medal is an improvement from the last World Athletics tournament in 2019 which was hosted in Doha. Germany’s Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo won the Gold medal by leaping 7.12m while Brazil’s Leticia Oro Melo jumped 6.89m to take the Bronze medal.
Tobi Amusan also did Nigeria proud in the 100 meters hurdles final as she emerged with the Gold medal. She also wrote her name in the history book by setting a new World record of 12.12 seconds.
