The manager of Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag has reflected on his team's defeat against Manchester City.
: 8 RECORDS BROKEN IN THE GAME BETWEEN MANCHESTER CITY AND MANCHESTER UNITED
The Dutchman was speaking at a post-match press conference after the game which was played at the Etihad Stadium. According to Ten Hag, his players lack the fighting spirit to match up to the performance which was shown by the Premier League Champions.
All the credit to Manchester City, but it is nothing to do with City, our performance was not good. As individuals, they were not convinced and did not support each other. A lack of fight and spirit in the team. I wanted to change the attitude of the team, we were braver in the second half, created chances and scored three goals. Only from mistakes you learn, we have to do better in the next game. If you don't fight which we didn't, you are going to have a problem against Manchester City. This is different to Brentford, that day we didn't run. Today we wanted to run but there was a lack of belief.
The result took Manchester City to second on the Premier League table with 20 points, one point behind league leaders Arsenal. However, Manchester United went down on the table to the sixth position with 12 points.
