Manchester United's goalkeeper, David De Gea has been named Premier League player of the month for January.

The Spaniard emerged the winning by getting the highest number of votes among the nominated candidates for the award. De Gea is the first goalkeeper to win the award since 2016 when Southampton's Fraser Foster won the award.
De Gea made 22 saves for the Red Devils in four Premier League matches played in January 2022. He produced five saves in the 1-0 game against Wolves, seven in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa then a remarkable eight saves in the 3-1 win against Brentford.
The 31-year-old has 84 saves this season which is the highest number of saves so far, which is 13 more than Illan Meslier. This is the first time De Gea is winning the award.
