Canada have set up a semi-final date with the world champions Argentina at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for a place in the final of the 2024 Copa America.
This is the second time both teams will be meeting each other in the competition after they met in the opening match of the Copa América, with a 2-0 victory for the Albiceleste.
Both teams reached the semi-finals having won their respective quarter-final matches on penalties. Argentina defeated Ecuador via the shoot-outs after playing 1-1 after regulation time on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau saved two shots in the penalty shootout so that Canada beat Venezuela 4-3, after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and qualified for the semifinals of the 2024 Copa America.
The last two spots in the final four will be taken by winners of the game between Colombia and Panama and the crunch tie between Uruguay and Brazil. The winners of the game will face each other in the second semi-final game.
