New York City FC

Vieira began his senior head-coaching career with New York City FC in 2016 after working with Manchester City's youth teams.

During his time in MLS, he established himself as a promising young manager, leading the club to back-to-back Eastern Conference playoff appearances.

He also guided New York City FC to a second-place finish in the 2017 Supporters' Shield race, recording 40 victories in 90 matches during his tenure.

Nice

Vieira returned to France in 2018 to take charge of OGC Nice.

He recorded 35 wins from 89 matches and helped the club finish seventh in Ligue 1 during his first season.

Nice improved to fifth place in the 2019–20 campaign, securing qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

Crystal Palace

Vieira was appointed Crystal Palace manager in 2021 and spent two seasons in charge of the Premier League club.

He recorded 22 wins, 24 draws and 28 defeats across 74 matches.

One of the notable achievements of his Palace tenure came during the 2021–22 FA Cup campaign, when he guided the club to the semi-finals. He also oversaw a 12th-place Premier League finish while beginning to implement a more possession-oriented style of football.

Strasbourg and Genoa

Vieira later returned to France to manage Strasbourg, where he recorded 13 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats in 38 matches.

His most recent club assignment listed in the record was with Italian side Genoa, where he managed 31 matches, winning 10, drawing 10 and losing 11.

With Senegal now turning to Vieira as its new head coach, his experience across different leagues and football cultures will be put to a new test at the international level.
