Chelsea FC has reportedly taken a final decision on whether Romelu Lukaku will remain at the club for the 2023/2024 season as the end of the summer transfer window draws closer.
The future of Romelu Lukaku has been decided according to numerous reports shared by sports journalists today, Tuesday, August 29, 2023, as Chelsea has reportedly decided to let the Belgian international, who many have viewed as unwanted by the club, go to a top Italian side in this summer transfer window.
It was reported that Roma has agreed on a loan deal estimated to be worth five million euros for Chelsea, and it was indicated that Roma would also cover the player's salary, estimated to be around 7.5 million euros as well.
Reports also indicate that the Belgian himself has signed off on the deal and has agreed to join his former manager José Mourinho, who managed him at Chelsea during his early days and at Manchester United as well.
José Mourinho, in 2022, spoke about how Chelsea mismanaged Lukaku during his stay at the club. He said, "[In his first spell] at Chelsea, he was still a kid. At Manchester United, he was still developing. At Inter he became the top man, He became loved - a big love from the supporters, love from teammates, great relations with the coach. He's a big guy, physically so strong, but there is also a kid inside who needs that love, needs that support, needs to feel important.”
Lukaku, who has always spoken about his love for Inter Milan, could not make a move to the side after it was revealed that he had decided to speak to the top rivals Juventus. It is, however, interesting to see how this would pan out for the Belgian who would be making a return to Italy as a rival of his beloved Inter Milan.
