Chelsea Terminate Contract of One of its First-team Player

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the termination of Ross Barkley's contract after both parties agreed on mutual consent.

The announcement was made on the official website of the Blues on Monday, August 29th, 2022. According to reports from the club, the midfielder could not break into the matchday squad of the team under manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Barkley joined the Blues from his boyhood club, Everton during the January transfer window in 2018. He made 100 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions during his time at the club where he scored 12 goals.

He was also a key part of the Chelsea team that won the Europa League under Maurizio Sarri in 2019 against Arsenal in Baku. The midfielder's last game for the Blues was against Watford on the final day of the 2021/22 Premier League season where he scored a goal which gave the London team three points.
