The Blues are in desperate need of another centre-back following the announcement of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. According to transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are ready to pay a transfer fee in the region of €45 to €50 million as against the initial request of €60 to €65 million.
The Ligue 1 Champions see the player as part of its long-term project but could allow him to leave for a good proposal. The manager of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel and Kimpembe both have a good relationship in time past when the German was the manager of PSG before he was sacked in December 2020.
Chelsea are looking to bring in at least two more defenders as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen who both left for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively as free agents. The Blues were initially linked to Manchester City's Nathan Ake but that is already off the table
