Chelsea have made a clear decision regarding the future of Raheem Sterling, as the winger is no longer considered a key part of the club’s long-term plans.
Sterling has struggled to consistently impress since his move to Stamford Bridge, prompting fresh doubts about his role under the current management. According to reports, the Chelsea hierarchy is now open to Sterling leaving the club, either through a permanent transfer or a loan move.
Chelsea confirmed the exit of Sterking on its official website on Wednesday, January 28, 2025. According to the Blues, the winger left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent.
"Raheem Sterling has today departed Chelsea Football Club by mutual agreement, bringing to an end three-and-a-half seasons as our player, having signed in the summer of 2022 when he was transferred from Manchester City. We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career."
The Blues are believed to be keen on trimming their wage bill and reshaping the squad with younger, more dynamic attacking options, which has influenced their decision on Sterling. The high wages and mixed form have made negotiations complicated, but Chelsea are reportedly actively exploring options behind the scenes.
Several clubs, both in the Premier League and abroad, have been linked with an interest, although no concrete deal has been finalised yet. For now, the winger remains a Chelsea player, but his future looks increasingly uncertain.
