Saudi Arabia club set to pay €80 million for a Chelsea player

Chelsea Football Club have reportedly received an offer from a club in Saudi Arabia for Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of next season.

Marca has confirmed that Al-Ittihad is prepared to offer slightly over £70 million for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who appears to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea. They are currently seeking a replacement for last year’s starting goalkeeper, the veteran Marcelo Grôhe, who has left the Saudi Arabia club.

Kepa was on loan at Real Madrid throughout the 2023/24 season due to an injury to the club's number-one goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois. Kepa has requested time to consider a significant pay raise compared to his current earnings at Chelsea.

There are reports that Kepa is waiting to see if he will receive a better offer from clubs in Europe or if Real Madrid will want him for another season on loan as a squad player, as they are yet to make a decision on Lunin who was brought in as a replacement for Kepa.

On the other hand, Chelsea is open to selling Kepa if a better offer comes in for the goalkeeper. This potential deal could greatly assist Chelsea in balancing their books and addressing their profitability and sustainability concerns.
