Chelsea FC seems to have fewer injury concerns ahead of the early kick-off fixture in the Premier League scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2023, as the club, in an official statement, revealed players that would be available and absent ahead of the tie.

In his pre-match press conference, the head coach, Mauricio Pochetinno, revealed updates on some key players many had concerns about ahead of the tie.

Reece James Injury Update

Pochettino confirmed that although the Chelsea captain Reece James is available for selection, he would not rush him into his starting lineup. He revealed that James would have to start from the bench for the blues as he is in no position to start any fixture at the moment.

He revealed, ‘Reece is still not ready to start. He is doing well, has been training really well. He is really close but tomorrow he is going to be on the bench.’

Christopher Nkunku Injury Update

Poch also confirmed that Nkunku remains unavailable for the Blues (Chelsea) due to injury, but he is working towards getting fit enough to start as soon as possible. He did not give a specific date to expect the French international.

He said, ‘He is doing really really well; is working really hard. He is close and hopefully as soon as possible we can have him involved again. He is a really important player for us. Maybe after the international break [in November] he will be involved, maybe. It’s not sure. He is a player that can provide goals and we have been missing goals. That is why we think he can be important for us – he has proved he can score goals in the Bundesliga. Of course, if you compare with different offensive players, maybe with eight or ten goals from Nkunku our situation is completely different because they are the goals we are missing to be in a different position. We can't complain and we need to work so things can happen. So we are looking forward to recovering him and for him to help the team score more goals, earn more goals, and be a in a different position in the table.’
