Chelsea in an official statement have confirmed that one of the club's first-team players would be out till the end of the 2023/2024 season.
Chelsea has announced that Romeo Lavia will no longer be able to play for the rest of the season due to an injury, which is a major setback for both the club and the player. Lavia, who joined Chelsea from Southampton last summer for £58 million, was out of action for the first four months of his debut season due to an ankle injury.
He eventually made his debut in December against Palace, but it was confirmed by Mauricio Pochettino after the game that he was struggling with an issue towards the end of the match. According to Chelsea’s official website, Lavia has suffered a setback in his recovery from the injury that has disrupted most of his campaign so far, and as a result, he will be unable to play again this season.
The 20-year-old Belgian midfielder had been undergoing an individual rehabilitation programme at Cobham but will not be returning to the field this season due to the latest setback. It is a significant blow for the Blues as they have not been able to rely on him much this season after he rejected Liverpool to join Stamford Bridge.
