Chelsea Football Club are already building their squad ahead of the 2023/24 season when Mauricio Pochettino will begin his work at the club.

The Blues confirmed the arrival of Nicolas Jackson as its second signing of the 2023 summer transfer window on its website on Friday, June 30, 2023. The Senegalese signed a long-term deal which will keep him at the club at least until 2031.

Chelsea paid Villareal £37 million which is slightly above the realise clause of the forward player. He is the second signing of the Blues since Christopher Nkunku.

Chelsea co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley expressed their delight on the club's website.

"We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season. We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates."

The Senegalese is expected to join Chelsea for its pre-season and also for their tour in the United States of America. Jackson scored 12 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for Villarreal last season.
