The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has officially brought an end to Mykhailo Mudryk's anti-doping case, clearing the Chelsea winger to return to competitive football after nearly two years on the sidelines.
The decision concludes one of the most high-profile disciplinary cases in recent football history, with Mudryk now eligible to play immediately following the successful resolution of his appeal.
Why was Mykhailo Mudryk Ban Was Overturned?
Mudryk was originally handed a four-year suspension after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium. However, the Ukraine international consistently denied knowingly taking any prohibited substance and challenged the ruling before CAS.
During the appeal, updated World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) technical guidelines proved crucial. The concentration of meldonium detected in Mudryk's sample would not have been considered an anti-doping rule violation under the current reporting thresholds. Following discussions between the Football Association, WADA, and Mudryk's legal team, an agreement was reached that effectively reduced his suspension to the period already served.

Mudryk Reacts to the Verdict
Speaking after the ruling, Mudryk described the past two years as the toughest period of his professional career.
The 25-year-old thanked his family, Chelsea, his teammates, and supporters for standing by him throughout the legal process, while reiterating that he had never intentionally used a banned substance.
