Former Tottenham player Harry Kane was celebrated in Germany and England following his three goals in the 7-0 thrashing against VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga.
The England international thought he had scored a hat trick, but the rules in Germany differ from the ones in the English Premier League where he was coming from. According to Bundesliga rules, Kane technically has not yet scored his first hat-trick for Bayern, and the regulations seem to make it difficult for any player.
A player must score their three goals in sequence and in the same half before it is considered a hat trick in Germany. This means that because Kane's goals were spread across both halves and with other Bayern players scoring in between, he has yet to get his first hat-trick for the Bavarians.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting opened the scoring at the Allianz Arena after just four minutes, before Kane struck not long after to double Bayern's lead.
Matthijs de Ligt and Leroy Sane both scored before half-time as Bayern went into the break 4-0 up. Kane scored his next two goals after the break, the first from the penalty spot, while Mathys Tel completed the 7-0 thrashing.
