Manchester City suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions after their disappointing performance against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

The Premier League Champions came into the game confirmed following their exit from the Carabao Cup and the defeat against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League. This defeat against Brighton is Pep Guardiola’s highest number of defeats in a row across all competitions.

Guardiola lost three consecutive games previously for Manchester City in 2018 and from May to August 2021. Bayern Munich suffered three consecutive games while he was in charge of the Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich in 2015.

Manchester City have lost a Premier League game in which they led at half-time for the first time since May 2021, also away to Brighton & Hove Albion. This is also the first time that Erling Haaland has lost a Premier League match in which he scored a goal for the very first time, having won 40 and drawn six of the previous 46.
