Brentford manager Thomas Frank has directly responded to questions about a possible Bryan Mbeumo transfer exit in January 2025.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank is confident the club can retain Bryan Mbeumo during the January transfer window, and it’s clear why. The Cameroon international has been in exceptional form this season, netting his 11th Premier League goal in their clash against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Frank’s confidence stems from Brentford’s lack of urgency to revamp their squad despite injuries to key players. The club is eyeing only one or two additions in January, with plans to strengthen positions such as left centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfield. However, there’s no pressing need to offload Mbeumo, even with top clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle expressing interest.
In fact, Brentford would require an extraordinary bid to consider parting ways with the forward, making it likely that Mbeumo will remain at the Gtech Community Stadium for now. Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Frank expressed his confidence in keeping the striker.
“Bryan Mbeumo was fantastic tonight, and I’m very pleased with his performance. For me, holding onto him shouldn’t be an issue,” Frank said.

Reflecting on the match, he added: “We got many things right and delivered an overall strong performance. The first half was excellent—I loved how we played with bravery, both on the ball and under pressure. However, we need to capitalize on the finest of margins and score more goals. To beat a team like Arsenal, everything must be executed perfectly.”
On their recent matches, Frank commented: “Today, we faced a top team, and you can’t expect to just defeat Arsenal, but we performed very well, and that’s what matters. The Nottingham Forest game was different—I would have liked to take more from that one.”
