The Samba Boys of Brazil failed to secure the top spot following their disappointing 1-1 result vs Colombia in the 2024 Copa America, the match gave football fans more than one highlight to talk about.

For neutrals, the match gave them everything they wanted in a football match as there were actions at both ends of the pitch during the duration of the game. This result means Brazil will face the winner of Group D, Uruguay in the quarter-final of the 2024 Copa America.

Raphinha scored the opening goal in the 12th minute, from a freekick which he whipped into the top corner to give Brazil the lead. Colombia thought they had equalised when Davinson Sanchez headed home Rodriguez's dangerous cross into the box but the goal was disallowed for offside after a lengthy VAR check.

Colombia striker Jhon Cordoba got an equaliser towards the end of the first half, he found a pocket of space on the edge of the area and played a brilliant through ball to Munoz. Both teams had chances to win the match but they failed to take full opportunity whenever advantage came their way.

Brazil will be without Vinicius Jnr in their next game against Colombia following a second yellow card he picked for his challenge on James Rodriguez.

The result extended Colombia's unbeaten streak to 26 matches, though it did mark the end of their 10-match winning run.
