Team Nigeria dominated the African scene at the Commonwealth Games which was hosted in Birmingham from July 28th to August 8th, 2022.

Nigeria won 35 medals in total which includes 12 Gold Medals, 9 Silver Medals and 14 Bronze Medals. This achievement is the highest number of medals that have been won by the West African team since it started attending the Games.
It was not just about winning medals for Nigeria, it was also about breaking and setting new records. Team Nigeria's dominance at the Games will be remembered for Oluwatobiloba Amusan's record-breaking race at the final of the 100 meters hurdles where she set a new record of 12.30 seconds.
Nigeria's representative at the long-jump event was also headlined by Ese Brume who leapt to a 7.00m. The competition was the all-time best record at the Commonwealth Games, a total of five records was set including four Games record and one World record
