The Premier League has seen a lot of heavy defeats that did not make the headline but there are sine defeats that made the headline, these are defeats that were suffered by the reigning Premier League Champions.
MANCHESTER UNITED SUFFER ANOTHER SETBACK AHEAD OF NEXT SEASON
Notjustok has decided to highlight the top defeats suffered by any Premier League Champions.
(1) Coventry City 5-0 Blackburn Rovers ( December 9th, 1995)
This was a game that did not surprise a lot of football fans, following the Rover's poor form in the league after winning the title in the 1994/95 Premier League season. Rovers became the first side to win the Premier League that wasn’t Manchester United when they got past the Red Devils. Coventry had only won once all season and were rock bottom of the table, but they were stunned by City, thanks to David Busst. Dion Dublin, David Rennie, Peter Ndlovu and John Salako.

(2) Newcastle 5-0 Manchester United ( October 20th, 1996)
The Red Devils suffered a big defeat, a season after winning the Premier League, the previous earlier. The Magpies won the game courtesy of goals from Darren Peacock, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, Alan Shearer and Philippe Albert would all find the net during the game, and Ferguson would leave Newcastle that day with his worst ever Premier League defeat at the time.

The Red Devils suffered another defeat as Premier League Champions just three years after losing to Newcastle United. The Blues thrashed the Manchester club a season after they won the treble. The two sides met at Stamford Bridge in the 1999/00 season, and Chelsea took lead just a minute in thanks to Poyet. The Uruguayan would net again in the fifty-fifth minute, with Chris Sutton, Jody Morris and Henning Berg’s own goal dishing out Ferguson’s second 5-0 loss in less than four seasons.
(4) Manchester United 1-6 Manchester City ( October 23rd, 2011)
The Red Devils suffered another defeat as Champions of the Premier League by their noisy neighbours, Manchester City as they are popularly called by the United supporters.
The Manchester Derby had been one to look forward to ever since the Cityzens were taken over by Abu Dhabi United Group, however, whoe victory on the 23rd October not only essentially turned the title from red to blue, but it effectively marked a changing of the guard in who the powerhouse was in the city.
(5) Leicester City 1-6 Tottenham ( May 18th, 2017)
The foxes won the Premier League season against all odds during the 2015/16, Leicester gave the world stars llike N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy propelling the Foxes but Leicester had a more depleted squad the following season as they failed to replicate their performance. Son Hueng-min scored twice and Harry Kane hit four on the day in what would finish as the second biggest win of the 2016/17 league season.
(6) Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool ( October 4th, 2020)
The Reds won the Premier League for the first time in 30 years during the 2019/20 Premier League season in an amazing style. The Reds however suffered the highest defeat suffered by a Premier League defending Champion. Ollie Watkins hit a hat-trick after just forty minutes, Jack Grealish completed a hattrick of assists and bagged two for himself and Jon McGinn and Ross Barkley would both find the back of the net
