Arsenal Football Club have reportedly offered a contract extension for its midfielder, Jorginho as his current contract comes to an end this season (2023/24).
David Ornstein of the Athletic confirmed the deal exclusively on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, according to him, the club are willing to reward Jorginho with a better offer because of his role in Mikel Arteta's team. Jorginho joined the club from Chelsea for £12million ($14.8m) in January 2023, signing an 18-month deal with the option of a further year.
The 32-year-old has been a crucial squad member for Mikel Arteta since his arrival and he has had 10 starts and 32 substitute apoerances this season in all competitions for Arsenal. However, the future of Thomas Partey at the club has not been decided, the contract of the Ghanaian international ends in the summer of 2025.
It was also reported that Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar and his assistant, Jason Ayto, visited Saudi Arabia last week on what is being described as a meet-and-greet trip, which focused on getting to know relevant Saudi Pro League (SPL) personnel and processes rather than discussing individual players and potential deals.
