It was a bitter-and-sweet experience for the supporters of Arsenal Football Club after they defeated Manchester City in the Premier League game against Manchester City.
France released a statement on its official website confirming that the Gunners defender, William Saliba was ruled out of the French national team games against Netherlands and Scotland, with Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo coming in to replace him. According to reports, the centre-back suffered a reoccurring foot injury he will remain in north London where club doctors at Arsenal's London Colney training ground will assess him.
Saliba was impressive in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 9, 2023.
"William Saliba is not able to participate in the gathering of the French team. The Arsenal defender suffers from pain in his right big toe. He will remain available to his club to treat this chronic injury. After speaking with Dr Franck Le Gall, the French team doctor, Didier Deschamps noted William Saliba’s withdrawal and decided to replace him with Jean-Clair Todibo. The latter is expected at Clairefontaine on Monday at noon, like all the selected players."
The 22-year-old has been fantastic for Arsenal this season ( 2023/24) having played eight games in the league, conceding six goals, having 43 recoveries, and 636 passes.
