Super Eagles of Nigeria's head coach Jose Peseiro has addressed the rumours and speculations on Stanley Nwabali's injury ahead of the must-win AFCON quarter-finals fixture, Angola vs Nigeria.
There have been rumours and speculations on the match fitness level of Stanely Nwabali who was substituted off due to injury in Nigeria's round of 16 fixture against Cameroon at AFCON 2023. This is however not the first update that would be shared on Nwabali's injury as many had surfaced over the week.
Peseiro revealed that Nwabali had indeed trained with the team but the possibility of him starting lies on the final fitness test which will be done by the medical team later today, Thursday, February 1, 2024.

He also confirmed that if Stanley Nwabali is not fit enough to play the game he will consider other options in Uzoho who came on in the final minutes of the round of 16 fixture against Cameroon.

The head coach said, “We have to wait for a late fitness test today, if he is not ready, I have other goalkeepers (Uzoho and Ojo). I believe and trust all my goalkeepers, if Nwabali is not fit, I trust Uzoho.”
