Super Eagles of Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has responded to the words of criticism from the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the performance of the team at AFCON 2O23 in Ivory Coast.
The message which was conveyed to Ahmed Musa via the Super Eagles of Nigeria Zoom meeting session with the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan, revealed that the president had stated that he has not seen the best of the team so far at AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.
This statement prompted a direct response from Ahmed Musa who urged the Minister of Sports Development to encourage the president to show his support for the team by appearing live at the tournament.

According to The Nation, Ahmed Musa said, "We have a message that we are going to send to you (Enoh) to the president. We don’t want him to watch the game on TV anymore, we want him over here [Ivory Coast] to come and cheer us together. So this is our own message to the President.”
This got the assurance from Senator John Owan who assured the president would be in Ivory Coast to watch the upcoming games of the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their qualification to the round of 16 of the competition. Senator John said, "The president will come. I can assure you the president will come. He has told me when he wants to come and my prayer is that gradually we are going to get to the point where the President can come. He will come. I will bring the president, he will come.”
