The presidential, gubernatorial, national assembly and state assembly elections of the largest black nation on earth, Nigeria have been concluded, but Nigerians aren't having it due to the slapdash electoral malpractice, violence and lack of transparency. The election conducted by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yabuku has been condemned by many international and local observers, as well as well-meaning Nigerians. The election has also been regarded by many as the worst in Nigeria's democratic history. To that effect, renowned Nigerian rappers, Falz and Vector have decided to express their views about the election in their latest single 'Yakubu' titled after the INEC Chairman.
On the new single 'Yakubu', Falz and Vector represent frustrated Nigerians who have been constantly oppressed, and denied their constitutional right to vote. With lyrics such as: "Mr Yakubu! Ę ma ń se bi fraudster, you don’t want to prosper, come and collect, oscar 300 billion te gbà lówó ìjoba, kí le fi se ná sir," Falz didn't hold back, the rapper calls out the INEC, INEC Chairman, and corrupt political parties allegedly involved in the electoral malpractices. Vector had some critical points to buttress as well, the rapper had a lot to say about the electoral process, the court jurisdiction and of course, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yabuku.
'Yabuku' serves as Falz's second official single for 2023 and is a follow-up to the previously released 'Owa' featuring Tekno. As regards production credit, Chillz has it to claim. The video on the other hand was co-directed by Oyetwopointo and Falz.
