Ajesings, a talented artist known for his unique style and lyrical prowess, has been named the first-ever featured artiste on NotJustOk's "Rising Afrobeats" showcase. His latest track, Expensive G, blends catchy beats with meaningful lyrics, making it an anthem of self-worth and confidence.

Born Adesanya Ajebiyi Dolapo in the early 1990s, Ajesings hails from Ikorodu, Lagos. He started music in 2009 and gained recognition with his 2021 project, Timeless. Over the years, he has collaborated with top artists like Bella Shmurda, Seyi Vibez, and Mohbad.

Ajesings describes Expensive G as a “street vibe and soulful melody that resonates with all types of listeners.” His unique fusion of afrobeat, soul, and hip-hop—coined Afro Soul—sets him apart in the industry.

Beyond his artistry, Ajesings is also a skilled sound engineer known as "Aje on the Mix." He has worked with a plethora of Nigerian music stars, like Seyi Vibez, Reekado, Teni, Mohbad, Zlatan and a slew of others, further cementing his reputation in the industry. Ajesings faced struggles early in his career but funded his music through sound engineering. His breakout song Try featuring Seyi Vibez is a deeply personal track that tells his story.

A Conversation with Ajesings: Rising Afrobeats, His Journey & The Future

Expensive G is a song with a street vibe and soulful melody that resonates with all types of listeners.

It was around 2021 when I released my first body of work, Timeless. The response from my listeners was huge, and it actually gained a lot of streams. That’s when I realized I was made for this.

My sound is the infusion of Afrobeat, soul, and pop—I call it Afro Soul.

As an upcoming artiste, it was never easy at the start. Things changed when I became a sound engineer—I started getting gigs for mixing and mastering services, and that’s how I was able to push my music in my own little way.

I see myself taking Afrobeats to the next level.

That would be Try featuring Seyi Vibez. That song tells my story and my pain, so it’s very special to me.

One misconception I really want to change is that not all upcoming artistes are disloyal to the game.

I would love my music video to look like a Hollywood movie—something people can truly resonate with.

I would love to work with Olamide and make timeless music.

Media platforms have helped a lot of upcoming artistes blow up. Without them, many artistes might not get the recognition they deserve. I think the media is very important in the entertainment industry.
