King Promise

The music grind never stops, which means every week we'll definitely see a brand new Jam releases from every corner of Africa and that includes Ghana, and from some of our favorite artists as well as new cats looking to catch their big break.

This week saw the release of several notable jams in the Ghanaian music space, some intended to do nothing but just get you to dance, and some intended to get you deep down in your feels. And trust me, both intentions are sure to succeed.

We bring you 6 of such songs, our pick of the dopest tunes that dropped from the Gold Coast this week.

Check em out below!

Sarkodie - Bumper

Africa's most decorated rapper Sarkodie came back with a new one, his first new material following the string of official videos from his album Black Love, which he dropped close to the end of last year. This one is titled "Bumper", and this time around we see the rapper dropping bars over an afrobeat instrumental of the Zanku variety. He dropped the song along with an official dance video, making himself scarce as he lets his dancers take center stage, and show out.

King Promise - Sisa

King Promise always delivers the smoothest of tunes when it comes to afrobeats, and this one right here is no exception. His first offering of brand new material in 2020, "Sisa" is a mellow head bopper that doesn't do too much, chock full of melodies. Plus the singer says he's dropping the official video very soon, which he promises (pun intended) will be "a movie".

Wendy Shay - Birthday Song

The Ghanaian afrobeats and dancehall diva Wendy Shay dropped this one to mark her birthday, the 20th of January.  With a video shot entirely on iPhone (which is impressive, by the look of the visuals), she gives us a look into how she chose to celebrate her new age. A fun and vibrant song, with a fun and vibrant video to match.

Big Drafon (Efya) - Perish

This right here is the second offering of Ghanaian soul songstress Efya's alter ego Big Dragon. Just yesterday she dropped this impressive tune that's currently stuck in my head. She blessed us with a neo-soul ballad, a trap-infused R&B tune where she sings her heart out to her lover. The hook is striking - "If you leave, I go die, I go perish oh". Plug it in my veins. If you're going to love, might as well love hard, right? Love this one.

Shatta Wale ft. SM Militants - Chacha

When Shatta Wale and his boys, the "SM (Shatta Movement) Militants" get together it's always a surefire banger, as evidenced by their last smash hit "Taking Over". Once again they rally themselves together to repeat the feat. Addi Self, Captan & Natty Lee display on this mellow afrobeats joint, backed by the support of their label boss.

Tibu - Call Me

It wouldn't be a great week in music without a standout track by a new cat, and we definitely got one. Ghanaian singer and rising star Tibu delivers a slow wine anthem, where he attempts to croon his way into some loving. "Call Me" is a vibe, and Tibu is definitely one to look out for!
