Marcus Rashford has reacted to being excluded from the 33-man provisional squad for England ahead of the Euro 2024.

Manchester United's Marcus Rashford who broke his silence after being snubbed by Gareth Southgate for the England manager's provisional 33-man squad on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, shared his thoughts on the selection as well as his hopes for England in their scheduled Euro 2024 fixtures.

Rashford's performance in the 2023-24 season for Manchester United raised questions about his fitness levels going into the Euros 2024 with many initially expressing doubts about his selection, with just seven goals and two assists in the Premier League under Erik ten Hag, following his impressive performance in 2022-23.

As a result, he has not been included in the Three Lions boss' training camp squad for the upcoming European Championship this summer. Other notable players who also missed the cut include Jordan Henderson, Reece James, Nick Pope, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell.

The England international following the official confirmation of the list took to his Instagram platform to wish the team the very best ahead of the tournament. His post on social media read, 'Wishing Gareth and the boys all the best for the up and coming tournament,' Rashford wrote on his social media channel.'

Southgate, who has given Rashford 57 out of his 60 international caps, shared that the choice was difficult but emphasized that Rashford's exclusion was based purely on his on-field performances.

He stated, 'These are of course difficult calls,' The England manager said. 'We're talking about players who are very good and who have been an important part of what we've done over a number of years. With Marcus I just feel that players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons, it's as simple as that.'
