Following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton have been in a race against time to find a new head coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Following days of speculations and uncertainty, the new head coach target for the Premier League side Brighton ahead of the 2024/25 season has been revealed in recent reports.

According to reports, Brighton and Hove Albion are nearing the appointment of 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler as their new head coach, having secured a governing body endorsement (GBE) work permit. The club has officially approached his current team, Bundesliga side St Pauli, and discussions are progressing well.

If the deal goes through, Hurzeler will become the youngest permanent head coach in Premier League history. They have considered several candidates, including their former manager Graham Potter, Steve Cooper, and Malmö's Henrik Rydstrom. Another potential target, Kieran McKenna, chose to extend his contract with Ipswich.

Texas-born Fabian Hurzeler has been with St Pauli for 18 months, having been appointed as the club's youngest-ever coach at 29. Under his leadership, St Pauli has secured promotion, marking their return to the Bundesliga after a 13-year hiatus.

Hurzeler had a lower league playing career with Bayern Munich's reserve team, where he was a teammate of Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can, as well as with Hoffenheim and 1860 Munich, before retiring at the age of 23. He transitioned into coaching and earned his UEFA Pro Licence at the age of 30.
