Magixx opens up about pressure of celebrity life

Nigerian singer, Alexander Adelabu, better known as Magixx, has opened up about the challenges he faces as a celebrity.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo that surfaced on NotjustOk Instagram page today, Tuesday, June 10, 2024, the Mavin Records artist discussed the pressures of maintaining a busy schedule and meeting public expectations.

Magixx shared that one of the struggles is the need to constantly change his wardrobe to meet public expectations. "There’s a path to every great person’s destiny. And in figuring out the path, I learned that you’ve got to go through this… I was dealing with public acceptance, family issues, accepting where I am at to improve myself, and still meeting public demands,” he said.

He elaborated on the various roles he juggles, from songwriting and performing to maintaining personal relationships and family responsibilities. "It’s a whole lot. You’re still the songwriter, you’re still the person who’s going to show up for video call, you’re still the person who’s going to pick your family’s call. You’re still the person who has a love interest, you’re still the person who’s going to fly out every weekend outside Lagos to perform for people. It’s a lot but people don’t even know."

Magixx emphasized the pressure on artists to present a fresh image constantly. "People don’t know that I can’t repeat the same cloth. For instance, this is the last time you will see the outfit I’m currently wearing on social media. I’ve to think about the cloth to wear every day. Normal people don’t think about those things. It’s a lot of pressure on artists but people from outside don’t see that," he concluded.
