Upcoming Star, Jesse Roar is Ready to Take off With New Single ‘Tha Rula’
In a few weeks, Jesse Roar would release his forthcoming single -Tha Rula. The single lends further credence that this new kid on the block is not ready for a pushover. He is here for the long haul. Amongst his nicknames, linkupdaddy, Rula, Roar, The fisherman, Sun, and Roi are just a few.
The young artist is not short of courage and a desire to sweep aside any challenges that might curtail his journey to the top. Many people took to trolling him when he first thought of music full-time, saying he didn’t stand a chance, not with the Zillion of artists releasing one song or the other daily. Some said his newfound love for music was getting to his head and it would only be a little while before he moved ahead to other ventures. If that were the case, it would not be the first time the Young artist Born in January 1996 had had to switch occupations. The youngster is a skilled photographer and at one point in time, had even tried hands-on being an interior decorator, painter and dedicated farmer. The dog-loving, fitness fanatic is not just in love with music but art and life generally.
Little wonder he cites Burna Boy as one of his major influences with seemingly nothing the ‘African Giant’ cannot do. Such is Jesse Roar’s confidence that he does not even see his mentor as a challenge. He is not one to court controversy, however, as he has been known to possess a calm and collected personality that belies his young age.
In today’s Nigerian music scene, markers are being raised. If the established acts are not careful, they would fall out of the people’s love. it seems Jesse Roar is pushing to join the conversation and be counted amongst the nation’s next-rated top acts. Can Jesse Roar, full of confidence in his talent and skills, break through the glass ceiling to be counted amongst Nigeria’s New School artists and amongst the very Best?
A review of Jesse Roar’s music catalogue, says this of the artiste, “Embedded within Jesse Roar is a strong character mixed with an unending penchant for unravelling and mystery and a constant fixation for an exciting blend of music that’s always eager to cast a distinct perception on the artist in a controversial but positive light. The ever-prominent attitude is something we have seen in a few upcoming, down the years but not so many are able to sustain that fire tempo. Vwederian Beats, an ace music producer does not see this as a problem with Jesse Roar and instead calls him a generational talent and a youngster full of life and confidence.
Are these, however, an indication of success? For one born to Benin and Urhobo parents, he comes from a long list of Edo/Delta-originated entertainers. Even the nation’s first taste of the Grammy for an indigenous-based act was one brought home by a son of the region (South-South). Tough boots to fill one would say but if there is anything to pick from Jesse Roar’s rationale, it is that there is nothing too big for him. The jury is still out on that.
